As much as we like cool and refreshing beverages, their time is over now. On the other side, you must admit that during the fall, something hot and delicious is a way better option than a beer, a cocktail or a glass or your favorite soda. Yes, today we’re talking about some of the best fall hot drinks!
We’ve made a short selection with three of the best beverages you can opt for this time of the year, perfect for rainy (or not) days.
Hot buttered lemonade
What makes it great is that it still reminds about summer, even if it’s gone for a while. According to mnn.com, here’s what you need to make it.
- 3 cups water
- 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 4 cinnamon sticks (optional)
Simmer some water, the juice from a lemon, the peel and some sugar in a saucepan, over medium heat. Wait until the sugar is dissolved and pour the mixture into mugs, each dotted with butter.
Definitely one of the best fall hot drinks, in our opinion!
Mexican Spice Hot Cocoa
Sounds interesting already, right? For us, this is one of the best fall hot drinks, combining hot cocoa with cinnamon and chipotle chili pepper.
- 1 serving hot cocoa mix
- 2 pinches ground cinnamon
- 2 pinches ground chipotle chili pepper
- 2 tablespoons sweetened whipped cream
First of all, you need to prepare the hot cocoa mix. After you’re done, 1 pinch ground cinnamon with 1 pinch chili pepper and add it to the mixture. Top the mug with whipped cream and sprinkle it with the remaining cinnamon and pepper.
Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte
We had to include a pumpkin spice-based beverage in our ‘Best fall hot drinks‘ top, so here it is! Besides being delicious, it’s also very healthy!
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon full fat coconut milk
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 tablespoons of sweetner
- 1-2 cups of strong, brewed coffee
- 3/4-1 cup of full fat coconut milk
Mix the puree with the milk, all the spices and the sweetener. Then, in a small pot, whisk the coffee and the mixture until it reaches the desired temperature. In a different pot, heat the milk and froth it.
Pour the coffee mixture in two cups and pour foamed milk over it, then top it with whipped cream.
